Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was born in South London, England into an ethnically diverse family. Her mother is English and her father is Nigerian. She went to The Brit School when she was fourteen years old. She was a student at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London in which she earned an acting BA. While attending the school, she appeared in numerous stage productions, such as King Henry V as Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe began her acting career with the film Storm Damage. In the years since, she's had guest appearances in films like Teachers, Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's film debut was in Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream (2007), with Colin Farrell. Her success resulted in her being cast as Elisha in a single-off BBC Three drama West 10 LDN pilot. She then appeared in the six-episode series Trexx and Flipside as Ollie. The ITV2 show Secret Diary of a Call Girl featured her in 2008 as Bambi. Madekwe also appeared on the comedy How to Lose Friends and alienate others (2008). Some of her theatre credits are Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) as well as Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe had her official US debut in the 2009 Drama series The Beautiful Life, which was only broadcast for The CW before being cancelled. In February, she was cast 2011, as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. The show premiered in May 2013 and it was revealed that Madekwe who had been a series regular in the past two seasons, would be leaving the show following a guest appearance in the premiere episode of the new season. In the TV series Salem in 2014, she portrayed Tituba in 2014 through 2016. Madekwe, her long-time companion, Iddo, married Madekwe in June of 2012. They've worked together on Secret Diary of a Call Girl as well as he played a part with her on the show Salem.
Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into an extended family of. Her family included the parents Roy and Patty along with four of their older brothers: Brett, Todd and Bram twins, Rob, and Brett. The four brothers of Ashley, all very active, took part in hockey in the winter months and played baseball in the summer months, which means she basically grew up in arenas and baseball parks. Ashley was never a walker, she did dance, so at the age of two and a half she started Baby Ballet -and she fell in love with. Ashley developed a passion for dancing after she started Baby Ballet. Ashley continued to compete until her high-school graduation in top divisions such as tap, Jazz, Ballet and Pointe. She also competed in Acrobatics, Acrobatics Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Hip Hop and many more. Top soloists at major competitions such as International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance which were all given to Ashley.
